Eating before and after exercise book.

Well I read the book Robert put out about eating before and after a workout and I was surprised at what I was doing wrong - again!!.

I wish I could have learned all this years ago.  What a difference that would have made to my life.  I do recommend that little book if you work out a lot.  I am not sure if it will have time to make much difference because I just started the new way of snacking on Friday, and this weekend is weigh and measure time.

Now, when I finish my workout, I make a little carb, protein snack and sit right down and eat it - before the shower!

Feeling great.  I hope the results on the weekend prove this.

Have a great day!

  • Esentially the same.  The difference is the combination of carbs and protein depending on whether you are cardio or weights.  I was eating a handful of nuts before my workout, and my normal breakfast after I was ready for work.

It turns out that my timing was the bad part.  I maybe should kick up the nuts a bit, I had to re weigh and get more calories and carbs before starting.

But, you really should not wait any longer than 30 minutes after your workout or your body does weird things to your muscles.

So, I think you are right on Jo, but the book gives specific ratios of carbs to protein, cardio or weight training, and the time to eat it!

I am weighing on Friday and measuring on Saturday, when I have a little more time.  I am hoping for good results, because I feel leaner especially in the middle.

    Thanks Jo.

  • I watched the video of this on the diet free website. my problem is I have to run to the gym when I can fit it in which doesn't always coordinate with meals very well. Thanks for the info though! Christine
